Conference excursion and dinner
On the afternoon of Wednesday 27th April we will organise a facultative conference excursion for you. We will go by bus at 14:00 from the hotel to the ancient Lithuanian capital Trakai and visit the ancient Island Castle with a guided tour. This visit will be followed by coffee and cake at the Stalo Klubas near the Castle. Thereafter you are free to explore the town of Trakai with its Karaite houses, the churches of Trakai, the Karaite Ethnographic Museum, or just take a stroll at the lakeside.

Then we will take a bus ride to Belmontas restaurant (situated at an old millsite close too the river Vilnia), where we have a traditional Lithuanian dinner in cosy settings. Therafter we will return to the conference hotel. The price for the arrangement is EUR 50,- (to be paid in cash upon arrival) and includes:

  • Transfer with bus from the conference enter to Trakai, further on to Belmontas restaurant and back to the conference venue
  • Entrance fee and guided tour in Trakai castle
  • Coffee and cakes at Stalo Klubas
  • 3 course dinner at Belmontas restaurant with 2 glasses of wine, beer or soft drinks


It is also possible to book only the conference dinner. In this case the price of the arrangements is EUR 30,-(to be paid in cash upon arrival) and includes the following things:

Excursion to the old library and observatory of Vilnius University
We plan to organise the excursion to the library and observatory of the old Vilnius University building in the very center of the city. The most valuable astronomical books will be exposed special for visitors of our conference. The price per person is €5.00 (to be paid during excursion). First group, Thursday 28 April, 13:30 (MEETING in the lobby of the hotel 13:30). Second group Friday, April 29, 13:30 (MEETING in the lobby of the hotel 13:30). Public event at the Vilnius Planetarium
Comets – New insights from Rosetta. Public event at the Vilnius Planetarium, Konstitucijos ave. 12a. Sunday, 24 April 2016, 17:00.
