At least two work windows are needed. One is used to enter Unix commands,
the other to enter Midas commands. Note that in most cases, the Unix
commands used in the exercise will give usage hints if you just enter the
command name itself without arguments.
- Log in on a Linux machine.
- Copy "ser/linde/Lab1/setup" to your HOME directory
- Type "source setup".
This does the following:
- Sets the PATH to access Unix scripts used in this exercise. The
command path is "$HOME/ser/linde/Lab1/bin".
- Copies the necessary Midas scripts into "$HOME/midwork".
- Opens two terminal windows, one for Unix commands
and one for Midas commands.
- Create directory INSTR/COL, where INSTR
is either PC, WF2, WF3 or WF3 and COL is either y, b, v, depending on
your assignment. Example: mkdir PC; mkdir PC/y. Change to this
directory in both windows, example cd PC/y.
- In the Unix command window, copy $HOME/ser/linde/Lab1/Xcalframes to
current directory. X can be either y, b, or v depending on your
assignment. The Xcalframes files contains the information of where to
extract in the (online) archive.
- In the Midas command window, start Midas: inmidas
